Case Study #HL007
This client's hair loss is caused by trichotillomania, or "trich" for
short. Trich is hair loss caused by compulsive hair-pulling and twisting,
often with increased severity during times of emotional stress. Although
very common, it's something that's routinely mis-diagnosed by the medical
profession as, for example, alopecia since patients don't always admit
to "pulling". There's much debate as to its root cause with
some arguing that it's an Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD) and others
pointing to genetic factors. However, we prefer to work on a
client's head rather than in it because we believe that, whilst
counselling has its uses, nothing increases self-esteem more than a full
head of hair; allowing the client to be in a stronger emotional position
to deal with the root cause of the problem. And, as you can see here,
we've achieved an amazingly natural result with our cosmetic techniques
- hair that looks, feels and behaves just like her own.
